Temporary traffic measures in Northampton town centre

New traffic management measures are being introduced temporarily at The Ridings in Northampton from Friday, 4 September 2020 to give pedestrians greater freedom to maintain two metres distance and reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The measures will see the Ridings closed to traffic between 7.30pm to 2am every Friday and Saturday from Friday, 4 September until further notice.

Residents of Northampton urged to taken action as cases rise.

Latest government figures published this week (22 July) show that the coronavirus infection rate in the borough of Northampton remains above the national rate (455.6 per 100,000) and regional average at 535.2 per 100,000. Public consultation now open on Northampton Local Plan

Northampton Borough Council has launched the latest consultation on its Local Plan Part 2 and is urging residents of the borough to consider responding.

The document sets out the planning framework for the borough until 2029 including allocation of sites felt appropriate for development.
