Drug dealing near you?

Dear residents,

Would you know what the signs are that one of your neighbouring properties may be being used to sell drugs and possibly exploit a vulnerable person? Here are some signs to look out for.

• If vulnerable people live close by and you notice more and more people suddenly living at their address, it could mean a drug dealer has taken over their home͘.
• Are people coming and going at odd times of the day and night?
• Are there strange smells coming from the property?
• If the windows of the house are covered or have the curtains closed all the time.
• Are cars pulling up to or near the house for a short period of time͘?
• If someone appears to be living beyond their means and enjoying a lavish lifestyle, but aren't earning the means to finance it, they could be making money from drug dealing.
• Drug dealing groups often target young vulnerable people to deliver their drugs and collect the cash. Look out for youngsters with large amounts of cash or lots of mobile phones - usually cheap pay-as-you-go types.
