Food waste collections in West Hunsbury have been affected by Covid related staff absences and food waste will Not be collected today ( 20/11/2020)

Residents are asked to bring in food kaddys from the kerbside and put them back out for collection next week.

New interpretation board at West Hunsbury Country Park

Collection of unwanted brown bins to begin next week

The collection of unwanted brown bins from residents that have chosen not to subscribe to the garden waste collection services and do not intend to subscribe to the scheme next year will begin from Monday, 9 November.

The collections will continue on a weekly basis, round by round, until Friday, 4 December.

Virtual Bonfire night celebrations

Northampton is set to celebrate Bonfire night 2020 in a unique way this year.

Thousands would normally gather at the Racecourse to enjoy the bonfire and fireworks display, but with coronavirus restrictions in place the annual celebration, coordinated by Northampton Borough Council, will be moving online.

Help available for those struggling to pay rent

Northampton Borough Council is urging residents who are struggling to make ends meet to find out if they qualify for extra help.

Each year the Government funds discretionary housing payments for those who are struggling to cover their rent, have rent arrears or need help to access more affordable accommodation.

Penalty action taken against hospitality business owners

Northampton Borough Council has taken action against the respective owners of two businesses that failed to comply with the Government's Covid-19 guidance.

Several breaches were observed by Environmental Health Officers on Friday, 23 October at Stereo Club on Bridge Street and at The Old House on Wellingborough Road.
